Having spent a number of years as drummer in various bands and producing music for other artists, Raja Baal as an entity came into being quite unexpectedly - I sent stream of consciousness recordings of myself playing drums to collaborators with the instruction to record "whatever you want" on top. I saw these guys in the Bullitt at Output in Belfast. Live, they cook up a strange brew of conflicting styles. I caught layers of jazz, roots and psychedelia all directed at creating a sense of unease. I'm looking forward to listening more. Ursula's Crow
